My green iguanas nail fell off?

ok as i was ping his cage i noticed blood dripping down a stick and into the water so i got him out of his cage to closer examine him and i found that one of his nails on the front foot has been ripped pulled etc off idk how it happened i have nothing in his cage that could cause it to be but it happened and now its bleeding....he has an appointment with the vet tuesday so till then does anyone no what i should do like how do i stop it from bleeding? plz help
