Mensa members bright?

If the members of Mensa are meant to be the brightest people in Britain then why do these same"bright" people pay 45 quid a year membership to some totaly useless organisation.Sound like a bunch of prats who need to have their egos boosted and are willing to pay a bunch of shiesters to do it.Sad or what?
